When a repeat is announced, we are asked to take on the toughest opponent of all: ourselves. More than any other week, the competition becomes internal. The focus turns from factors you cannot control – the performance of others – to those you can – your personal result. The leaderboard becomes secondary to self-improvement, which really should be the goal for us ‘average exercisers’ anyway.

In these workouts, is the opportunity to demonstrate if hard training has paid off. We hope to see progress, but to expect results without follow through is delusion.

The repeat is an objective measurement of our fitness and to see it move in the right direction is a beautiful, gratifying thing.
